Bars are often presented as smoke filled establishments (well, they used to be before bans on smoking went into effect but old images in people's minds die hard). So why is there such a compelling need for wine bars? Part of the reason is that often nightlife and dining entertainment require a new format in order to draw people in. When an old, tried and true method is repeated too often it becomes difficult for a new establishment to draw in customers. So, a novel spin on what was a common type of business if tried and sometimes it can prove to be successful. In the case of wine bars, they are popping up all over the world and drawing in a number of regular customers. So, you can not say that are not successful!
